How To Be In The Present Moment

What is real, what is not? The more we move into awareness and observing everything dispassionately, especially ourselves, our perspective changes moment to moment. In the present moment, everything is happening for the first time, even the most mundane and routine things.

Our reactions and responses come from habit and conditioning. So half the times, we move into everything as a reflex. Sitting down, putting our feet up, looking out from the window, drinking a glass of water, doing routine work. Like a programmed robot. And if in that moment, we become mindful and aware, everything changes. The first thing that drops, is taking everything for granted. Suddenly, even the smallest movement, action, response, brings up immense gratitude to be where we are, doing and saying what we are. From gratitude flows love. For everything around us. Everywhere we look, we see the presence of the Divine. His creation, His loving presence, His Will. And then nothing seems ordinary anymore, but a blessing. Even if things go awry, or upset us, be it people or situations, we do not try to rush into anything. As we allow ourselves a few still moments, we are able to act and respond in a manner that is not fearful, stressed, anxious and impatient. And so we are able to move through everything with greater ease. Including sitting back, letting go, waiting, letting another have his/ her way. Where earlier we would have jumped in to control the situation. And so also with our thoughts and the mind games of the ego. Where earlier we would have fallen into its well laid traps of old patterns of belief and thinking as we were used to, now we don’t. We stop and see how the earlier patterns only diminished us in our own eyes. Now we want to think and act in a manner which nurtures and uplifts us. Which comes from a space of respect, love and acceptance. For ourselves and others. The present moment is the only reality where our life plays out. All else is an illusion. The sooner we understand that, the better it is for us.

Some Beautiful Quotes:

1) Yesterday Is History, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present!

2) Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future. Concentrate your mind on the present moment - Buddha
